Milk

In: Argentina

30 Oct 2006

For some reason, milk in BA is only sold in 1 liter containers. It either comes in a bag or a box and may or may not be refrigerated. I haven´t had any problems, but this stuff only has a shelf life of 2-3 days, so that means a lot of trips to the Norte [...]

Perros

In: Argentina

30 Oct 2006

Buenos Aires is infamous for piles of dog poo on the sidewalks everywhere. But I´m fascinated by these dogwalkers! Some of them walk 10-12 dogs at the same time.

Cumpleaños x2

30 Oct 2006

Two birthday parties in one night. I need to get more sleep!
First was Risa´s birthday party at 21:30. I had 3 different types of steak and piece of chicken for 25 pesos! (It could be hard returning home). Next it was off to Romina´s 25th birtday party at a local disco. Discos really aren´t that [...]

Long Time Eating

In: Daily Life

30 Oct 2006

We went out to eat for Christina´s birthday on Friday. The night began at 21:00 with 8 people and commenced at 3:00 with over 20 people. Over 6 hours at the restaurant! It seemed like we talked about everything during that time. We started out in Spanish, but that broke down later.
It was just your [...]

Plaza Francia

In: Daily Life

30 Oct 2006

Jackie & I went up to Plaza Francia in Recoleta after church last Sunday. It was full of people shopping at the booths and enjoying the nice day. We sat and watched a performace for about 20 minutes. I don´t even know how to explain it but it was hilarious.

Tango Show

In: Daily Life

28 Oct 2006

Somebody pinch me…it’s like I’m living out a dream and taking a vacation at the same time! Our class attended a Tango Show last night at Cafe Tortoni. What a performance! We had the basement of the cafe to ourselves and enjoyed the quaint, intimate setting. It was more of a mixed show than a [...]

Tango Lessons

In: Daily Life

27 Oct 2006

A group of us went to group tango lessons in Palermo Viejo last night. That was a waste of time! Every 3 steps we bumped into someone because it was so crowded. I was excited about the prospect of learning tango, but it looks like private lessons will be the best option.
There were about [...]

Fiesta de Vino

In: Daily Life

23 Oct 2006

I´ve had more wine in 2 weeks here than in all my previous 25 years. I´m starting to enjoy it! Saturday, Roger & Michelle hosted our Fiesta de Vino–Wine Party for all you norteamericanos. They had a beautiful penthouse apartment in Palermo and we enjoyed a beautiful night on the balcony. It´s a good thing [...]

Saturday morning I went with my friend to the Mormon Temple in BA to pick up some of his things that were dropped off by friends from back home. We took a long, hot, uncomfortable bus ride for about an hour and fifteen minutes and arrived about noon. The propety was a beautiful, tranquil setting [...]

Small Group

23 Oct 2006

Friday night I met up with J.D. so he could help me overcome the language barrier at the Apple Store. My first Mac and it crapped out after 2 months! Hopefully I´ll have it back Thursday. Ojala! I´ll be able to post pictures again when I get it back.

After that, I went to Rey de [...]
