Visiting the U.S.
I’m mulling over the possibility of Vanesa and I traveling to Minnesota in July to visit for a couple weeks during Vanesa’s winter break from classes. It’s not that I don’t love and miss my family, but the main reason would be to give Vanesa a chance to meet everyone and at least get a glimpse of the U.S. At this point it’s a pipe dream, but if there’s any way it’s possible, I would like to do so.
For this to happen several obstacles would have to be overcome. First, Vanesa does not have any vacation time remaining. She receives two weeks every year and could petition her boss to take the time in July rather than January or February. Secondly, it’s just plain expensive no matter how you slice it. A round-trip ticket to Minneapolis will run $1200 per person and I would obviously be buying both tickets. Thirdly, it’s not guaranteed that Vanesa would be granted a visa to visit the United States. Before the crisis of 2001, Argentines did not need a visa. But after they started emigrating in droves, the requirement was put into place. Finally, I would like to start looking for a job in the coming months. While it’s the least of all these concerns, it would have to be postponed until after our trip.
Please pray that God would provide a way for us to take this trip. I think it would be invaluable for Vanesa to have the opportunity to meet my family and see the U.S. for herself. Also, if anyone finds any outstanding flight deals, please let me know.

Kyle,
Dad and I were talking about the very thing you wrote in this blog, but we didn’t know what Vanesa’s schedule would be like. We’ll pray with you that the Lord will work this out!

We’ll do our best to make it to Minnesota. Thanks Mom & Kristen!
Hey…if you’re coming up…I wanna come too! But seriously…if you are coming up, it would be something I would consider, provided that I have the money and a flexible schedule.
