Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and I hope you enjoy the time with friends and family. Give thanks, eat lots of turkey, watch football, play cards, and go out for Black Friday specials. We are privileged to live in an amazing country that, despite all its shortcomings, is a gift from God. The gratitude I have is more profound than ever and I hope it grows throughout the rest of my life. I have so much to be grateful for and nothing about which I can complain. May God bless you all and to everyone gathered in Fargo, “I miss you and love you very much. Kirby and I are there with you in spirit. See you soon.”

Happy Thanksgiving Kyle! We miss you. I’ll overeat and be miserable for you!

    Love you.

Did you have turkey for Thanksgiving? Our day was a little “messed up”. We were invited to Kim’s mother-in-law’s in Sartell, mn (near St. Cloud)so we all left from Dubuque; they in their car and us in ours. Just outside of Fairbault, MN their Jeep died and had to be towed to a garage. I’ll skip the details of the complications that were caused by this! At least, being small town MN, the tires were still on the car and all parts were attached. However, their engine needed to be replaced. (Long story, shortened – they traded it for a mini van). At the end of the day my glasses frame broke – not at a joint so it could be easily fixed. I was blind, dizzy and feeling weird from my lack of vision. The Thanksgiving day was eventful, but far from traditional. We had burritos for lunch on our drive and we got to Sartell so late that our evening meal was non-existant!

In your message you said, “see you soon” – when will you be back in Fargo. Or is your family coming there to see you?

Merry Christmas, Kyle!! How is Christmas celebrated there, or is it at all?

Sorry to hear you had a not so great Thanksgiving. At least it was memorable!

“See you soon” is a relative term at this point. I’ll be back in Fargo soon enough, but it won’t be during the ND winter. As of right now, I don’t believe they’re planning to visit Argentina.

Christmas here is much smaller than in the US. There are no Christmas carols and the only decorations you see are at the malls. Also, it seems strange with heat, humidity, and air conditioning (if you’re lucky). There are also fireworks all around the neighborhoods at midnight and lots of noise. Definitely not Silent Night or White Christmas. The little I saw of Brazil seemed to indicate that they decorate and try to copy the North American style more than the Argentines.

Thank you and I hope you have a great Christmas too!
